A beautiful sunset or powerful cloud formation has, at that moment, amazing light, shadow, and color. Inspired by these and other magnificent displays of nature, and in an effort to ‘capture the moment’, I will photograph a scene for future reference. Only later do I realize the photo looks nothing like the moment I remembered. Nature bombards our senses with so much at a given moment, making it impossible to re-create in all its glory. Hence, my landscapes evolve from feeling, rather that seeing, as I attempt to simplify the complexities of nature and re-create the momentary magic in a given panorama.
