A daunting challenge, yes, but to capture a person's essence and spirit is the goal I keep in mind as I execute a portrait. Never wanting my work to be lifeless, I try to capture the life that exists in the geography of the face and body through careful use of light and shadow. Furthermore, the life experience of my subject leaves a wonderfully unique imprint from which I draw inspiration for my work.
